Free GPS Software
I took a look at some of the online offers for free GPS software and found, like many "free" offers there were often involved restrictions and reservations. Often the freeware is a scaled - version of purchasable products. Sometimes the free product's functionality with features disabled are limited to test other products - and are disabled after a certain time) (hours or days or use.
An example of limited free GPS software, see> GPS utility. The downloadable freeware is limited 100 waypoints and 500 track points. (There are 65,000 registered in the version of each of its program.) The free program gives you a good opportunity to try before you buy, and that's the advantage of most free programs.
There are online sites that list various free GPS software and describe how to use the programs after you download them. Often people, the programs themselves have used the development of the sites.These are great because they give you an objective interpretation of the pros and cons of the programs before you use them.
With the GPS software you can download free programs that allow you to retrieve and aerial photographs, topographic maps, USGS landmarks display. There are programs that you import scanned images, and add the latitude and longitude points and other data allow.
Free GPS software downloads for PDA units availablethat the communication with GPS receivers are capable of. With these downloads you can have a useful navigation assistant, location database manager, and GPS data converter.
Programs for GPS waypoints and route files to be managed for both PC and Mac. The waypoints and route files can be stored or used in different formats from other mapping programs will be converted.
If you need information to and from your GPS receiver and your home transfer Computer or laptop, there are some free programs that you can do. There are also programs that allow Garmin GPS receivers to talk to "each other.
Many of the programs listed here are directed at the hiking / trekker community, but there are also free programs for auto GPS systems and marine navigation systems. I have a couple of navigation at sea programs that allow you to download charts and plotter.

As satellites are constantly in motion, it is helpful to know the optimum time for data collection in your area. There is free GPS software that includes an almanac, so you know, contains the availability of satellites at any given time.
Some of the free GPS software is very specific. Programs forGarmin receiver may not work for Magellan, so check the specifications carefully, especially if you intend to purchase a registered version after your trial period. Other software works with most brands.

The maps even show roads in cemeteries in the middle of nowhere. After speaking w/ Garmin it requires downloading an interface or you can buy the DVD/CD version and transfer from a PC to the unit.
