Mega Disasters - How GPS Tracking Will Save Lives
Disasters are happening all the time, human nature, driven to make fateful events. Centuries ago, the planet had primitive life and did not understand what happens to their world. But today we live in an advanced technological society in which it is not likely to be extinct, our whole race as in the dinosaur era. Humans will survive, but how many of us will live? The question remains unanswered.
If you've ever watched The History Channel, they have a program calledMEGA Disasters. It offers many different ideas about the events that caused a massive loss of life from natural or man-made disasters. One or more of these disasters MEGA will be sooner rather than later.
Here is a brief description of what is going on the show.
Massive natural disasters have the planet on which we live shape for millions of years, and the only thing we know for sure that the future holds more. Earthquakes have triggered massive tsunamis and released methaneGas, which most marine life lives. Asteroids are laid waste to almost all life on Earth. Volcanoes have blocked the rays of the sun for months.
How has the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami in the Indian Ocean 2004 dramatically demonstrated, we are all vulnerable to unexpected disasters, both natural and man-made. Combining science and history, Mega Disasters visits the sites of previous disasters, then they are in modern times and places, withState-of-the-art computer animation.
Whether it is the city of Memphis plunges into the Mississippi River during an earthquake or a mile wide asteroid would destroy Los Angeles, each week a hair-raising show just how vulnerable our society is very complex, the power of nature.
What must we do to save lives now and in the future?

| Review by zoothornrollo (Houston, TX) 2010-06-16 This is a replacement for a two year old map chip. My wife and I use if for Geocaching, and have found quite a few caches with it. The maps even show roads in cemeteries in the middle of nowhere. The maps are usually pretty accurate, but the navigation feature sometimes get confused when the roads have changed or aren't on the chip.... Read more Garmin City Navigator reviews | ||

| Review by M. Gladyszewski (Ohio) 2010-07-11 Having used Delorme since 2005, I've used almost every iteration of this software. the SA2010 software is nice, and works surprisingly well with the LT-40. While it seems to struggle at times, even in clear skies, it does gain a 3D lock fairly reliably. I use these products as a Cable Installer, and am soon relocating to a new area, and I am confid...
